Online

Snappy and engaging, yet informative, writing for the web is an art in itself. I’ve written copy that has brought history and heritage to life, promoted the potential of regional investment and profiled Ireland’s cultural heroes.

Grow in Cork

Backed by Cork City and County Councils, this wide-reaching project was commissioned to boost investment in Cork. A website and series of high-quality brochures highlight its leading business sectors, major companies like Apple with European bases there, research and educational facilities, entrepreneurial ethos and large pool of talent.

Armagh Stories

For 7,500 years people have been drawn to Armagh. Tribes and druids, knights and kings, saints and scholars, innovators and creative talents, legendary names from Irish folklore and history. I researched and wrote these stories of famous people from Armagh’s epic past. Myths and legends, Armagh’s cider heritage, heroes of its food heartland, linen legacy, Georgian architecture and much more.

Shaped by Sea and Stone

I researched and wrote a series of stories and itineraries for the Mid & East Antrim under the category Sea and Stone Stories and itineraries. Causeway Coast, Game of Thrones, towns and villages, wellness, hospitality, 48 hours, accommodation, castles, boat tours, arts and crafts and much more.

Chris Heaney, award-winning photographer

Derry City Voices

I worked closely with Derry City Council on various projects connected with their successful bid to become the inaugural UK City of Culture. The main one was to write up 50 profiles of their most influential cultural citizens, from classical musicians to members of the Undertones, actors and filmmakers to those who run their theatres, art galleries, cultural organisations and arts centres. These appeared on their City of Culture website. This punchy, accessible but in-depth web copy was then revised for features in the international media.

Ulster Scots Heritage Trail/Down and Ards

The most successful of its kind in Ireland, the Hamilton Montgomery plantation transformed the north Down and Ards peninsula. For this website, sponsored by the Ulster Scots Agency and the two councils, and produced by Lagan Media, I wrote the many site summaries, as well as the eight themes. I also wrote the two short films on 1798 and the genesis of the plantation – Conn O’Neill’s escape from Bangor.
