As part of my work for the Titanic Hotel I wrote this comprehensive booklet on the history and heritage of the Harland & Wolff shipyard and Belfast shipbuilding.

As dedicated tourism copywriter for Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Council I have written several brochures on the highlights of the area, including its Georgian architecture, tourism trails, Food Heartland, and an extensive visitor map. See website section of Armagh Stories.

The intention of this Tourism Ireland brochure was to capture the essence of what makes Ireland unique through the perspective of people who are leaders in their field. I identified the best people and interviewed them before writing their contributions in the first person.

John Luke was a working class hero before it became fashionable. I wrote a 10,000-word research document and 5,000-word booklet on the North Belfast artist for Arts for All and the Ulster Scots Agency. The project entailed researching the life of John Luke and writing the document in various sections. These included Luke’s childhood and working life in North Belfast, his artistic career and his legacy.

What do St Patrick, Houdini, Bill Clinton, the Dalai Lama and Coke have in common? They’re all part of the unique Shankill story. Working with local historian Bobby Foster I wrote this visitor guide to the Shankill area.

I researched and wrote this 200-page book for post primary children (funded by the Ulster Scots Agency) for Derry, Strabane and Omagh councils. Religion, language, culture, food, the Siege of Derry and emigration to the US were all brought to vivid life.

I conducted extensive research with local history groups to help produce this comprehensive booklet on the heritage of eight communities within Craigavon, including Waringstown and Donaghcloney.

‘The city’s rising status as a top food destination was celebrated this week with the launch of the LegenDerry Food Guide, a stylish new coffee table publication showcasing restaurants and cafes throughout Derry.’ I wrote the copy for this comprehensive guide to eating in Derry.

I researched and wrote all the copy for both editions of this groundbreaking motivational brochure for the Northern Ireland Tourist Board.

The idea was to inspire tourism providers, local people and visitors alike with stories told with feeling and passion by local people about Northern Ireland. I was responsible for all the content, from the introduction, chapter headings and straplines to the stories themselves. This involved extensive research to find suitable local people (some famous, most not) who could talk with passion about their environment, culture, heritage and work and from whose words suitable stories could be created.

Great mill owners, revolutionaries, prototype feminists, stalwarts of unionism and trade unionism, comedians, lion owning prize fighters, world famous actors and musicians. I researched and wrote over 25 detailed portraits of the famous sons and daughters of North Belfast for this popular booklet.

I’ve written both editions of this stylish Belfast City Council guide to Belfast’s vibrant art scene.

I wrote the text for The Derry Visitor Guide 2010 and 2011, the Derry Jazz Festival brochure 2010 and 2011 and the Derry Investment Brochure 2010 and 2011, as well as their Halloween brochures. I write frequently for Derry City Council marketing department, not least in relation to City of Culture. I wrote the household brochure for Ilex on the Regeneration Programme for Derry and much of the copy for Derry City Council’s Focus on the Future book.
